Pirates of the Carribean producer Jerry Bruckheimer, 80, is still keen on working with controversial Hollywood star Johnny Depp despite his legal battles with former partner and actor Amber Heard. Speaking of Pirates reboot, Jerry said, "It's a reboot, but if it was up to me, he (Depp) would be in it."
The producer was speaking to Entertainment Weekly on the franchise's reboot. He said that Depp 'created' the character of Captain Jack Sparrow: "It's a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it. I love him. He's a good friend. He's an amazing artist and he's a unique look."
"Johnny Depp created Captain Jack. That was not on the page, that was him doing a little Pepé Le Pew and Keith Richards. That was his interpretation of Jack Sparrow," said the producer.
Depp famously essayed the role of the eccentric Captain Jack Sparrow in the first five movies of the globally hit franchise. The films released between the years 2003 and 2017.
Depp is still attempting to make a proper comeback to movies after starring in the 2023 French release, Jeanne du Barry. No other films of Depp have been announced since.
